Erstklassige und erfahrene Istrumentalisten, Komponisten, jede Menge frische Kreativität und gute Kontakte zu den Jugendradio Aufnahmestudios.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cbr\u003eGotte und Michael Behm bewiesen schon für die Gruppe um Horst Krüger, dass sie unglaublich viel schwarzen Groove im Blut hatten. Mit der Idee eine funky Sound in der eher rockig orientierten \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eDDR Musikszene zu etablieren, nahmen sie gleich nach Gründung zwei absolut herausragende funkig rhytmische Burner auf. Da der zeitgenössischer Musiktrend leider eine andere Sprache sprach, \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eder Schlagzeuger Michael Behm auch noch Ende 1977 die Band verließ sowie die Ausrichtung nun eher zu einer rockig discoiden Musik hintendieren sollte, erhielten die frühen FUNK Perlen \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003ekeine Beachtung mehr in der fortlaufenden Bandgeschichte. Nach ein paar Auftritten, Compilation Beiträgen, Single Auskopplung zerfiel diese viel versprechende Band schon wieder in ihre \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eEinzelteile. So wurde das Modern Septett eine der meistgebuchtesten Tanzkapellen des Landes und spielte zahlreiche Titel für das Radio ein. Für das Staatseigene Amiga Label war der Sound einfach zu roh und hart für diese Zeit und so konnten sich nur zwei Titel, \"Unsre Stadt\" auf der Kompilation \"Dann bist du da\" sowie \"So muss es sein\" auf einer DT64-Musikstudio Splittsingle, in dieser ersten Schaffensperiode etablieren.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cbr\u003eMitte der 70er war die Modern Soul Band mitten im FusionJazz angekommen und erhielt endlich durch ihre stetig wachsende Popularität ihre erste LP Produktion im Jahre 1976. Ein wirklich gelungener Live Mitschnitt aus Gotha mit einer inzwischen etwas anderen Bandbesetzung und ein absolutes Muss für jeden Sammler von ostdeutschem Soul und Jazz.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eEin kurzer Rückblick:\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003eEs geschah in Ost-Berlin 1968, Hugo Laartz entschloß sich nach dem Auftrittsverbot seiner mitgegründeten Beat Band \"Music Stromers\" im angesagten Jugendklub \"Freundschaft\" in Berlin Friedrichshain nach etlichen Jam Sessions eine neue Band zusammenzustellen. Die Adresse in der Fredersdorfer Straße war trotz seines rückblickend erstaunlich geringen Bekanntheitsgrades kein gewöhnlicher Jugendklub,\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003esondern DER Klub für frischen amerikanischen Soul Beat im Herzen Ost Berlins. Nicht weit vom Ostbahnhof entfernt, kamen nicht nur tanzbegeisterte afrikanische Studenten, welche die neuesten Soul Schallplatten aus West Berlin in den Osten schmuggelten...\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003enein, es kam die Creme de la Creme der musikalischen Studentenschaft des ganzen Landes. So jamten Ulrich Gumpert neben Hugo Laartz, Günter Dobrowolski neben Eugen Hahn, Jochen Gleichmann \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eneben Andreas Altenfelder.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cbr\u003eSpäter stieß sogar Conny Bauer in dieser Lokation noch zur Gruppe dazu, welcher gerade aus dem Manfred Ludwig Septett Görlitz ausgestiegen war und frisch in Berlin strandete.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cbr\u003eSo schloß sich der Kreis und bald war eine neue kraftvolle und kreative Band zusammengestellt. Diese Gruppe hatte etwas was zu dieser Zeit keiner hatte, einen echten deutschen rockigen Soul Sänger: \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eKlaus Nowodworski. Er sorgte mit seiner röhrigen Stimme und Bühnen Perfomance für einen ganz besonderen Stellenwert der Gruppe im Land. Zu dieser Zeit gab es nichts vergleichbares und so lud Luise Mirsch vom Jugendsender DT64 sie regelmäßig ins Studio ein, um die neue Gruppe zu fördern und das Jugendradio mit modernster Soulmusik zu bestücken.
