“The Fragile Beauty (Of New Morning Hopes)” is Alex Henry Foster’s first studio album since his debut Windows in the Sky (2020), and his first return to the studio after a life-threatening heart surgery.
The album sees Alex Henry Foster explore the fragile space between loss and renewal, surrender and transformation, and the moments in which life asks us to become something we never knew we were meant to be – never believed we could be.
The album unfolds as a journey within a journey, an invitation to the listener to define and redefine its meaning through their own experiences rather than offering a fixed destination. It is an expansive, immersive entity of its own, morphing through every listen.
Anchored in rock sounds, the album moves through cinematic soundscapes, layered instrumentation from around the world, and moments of raw, almost overwhelming release. Its songs unfold gradually, often shifting shape as they progress, creating a sense of movement that mirrors the album’s larger idea of a voyage.
The Fragile Beauty (Of New Morning Hopes) is the first of five interconnected acts (or albums) conceived as a larger journey through grief, letting go, and rebirth. The project finds part of its spiritual foundation in Tangier, a land that welcomed Alex at a moment when he was profoundly adrift and would come to embody many of the ideas at the heart of that journey: displacement and belonging, loss and renewal, wandering and finding one’s way forward.
